What is sacred interior design?
On a basic level, sacred interior design means taking a sacred approach when designing a space. As the quote above says, when we bring our full presence and attention to something, it comes alive, and when we infuse every part of the design process with solid intentions it comes alive in a way that is deeply resonant. The sacred describes something that inspires awe, reverence, or is worthy of devotion. In my view, our very lives are sacred and therefore the homes that are the containers for our sense of safety, sanctuary, and rest, and that support our most valued relationships, and spiritual connections are sacred as well. We create sacred spaces and infuse them with life by approaching them with intention and a creative spirit. I believe we are triune beings—body, soul, and spirit, and therefore all three aspects of us must be tended to in the design process in order for us to feel truly “at home.”
In these times of massive deception, social confusion and upheaval, it’s critical that our homes be spaces that uplift, feel alive, and reflect our deepest values and truest selves. Our homes must ground and center us in reminders of who we are, so that when we step outside we know who we are, what matters most, and are clear on the values we want to bring to the world at large. What and who we surround ourselves with, including our physical environments, are incredibly important in keeping us on the right life paths.
Interior design can be a purely materialistic and rather shallow pursuit leaving our homes feeling more like sterile, lifeless museums than homes. Or, if one engages the process in a more mindful and intentional way, it can be a profound and highly creative and even spiritual process of exploring and expressing our deepest selves. Contrary to the cookie cutter, corporate-style trends prevalent on Pinterest and in style magazines, my approach to interior design utilizes a Soul Style Discovery process that helps you to identify your deepest values and preferences through intention setting rituals, questionnaire and journal prompts, connection to the land your home sits on, and your spiritual faith. This process invites you into a deeper relationship with the natural world and her elements that help ground our bodies and nervous systems so well, as well as your spiritual self ultimately resulting in a home that reflects your unique soul.

Sacred Design includes Nature
Why include nature? We include nature because first, it is our home on this earth. Second, we have evolved with the earth since its inception and are therefore dependent on it and intimately interwoven with it. For most of human history, we lived close to nature, and because of this our bodies are biologically wired to be in nature most of the time. When we sit down on a log in the forest, or crouch down next to a stream, or listen to the waves of the ocean, our bodies naturally relax, our breath expands, and a sense of balance is restored.
I believe many of our personal and social problems are rooted in the fact that most people now spend the majority of their time indoors, disconnected from their natural home. I believe our bodies and nervous systems are no longer being nourished by the elements in the way they have throughout history and, as a result, we are deeply suffering. For these reasons it is vitally important to bring as many natural elements (wood, stone, metal, water, plants and air/energy circulation) into our homes as we can.
This is why my design style is “Biophillic,” literally meaning “love of life.” Biophillic design brings natural elements into a space and mimics the curves, shapes and even geometry found in nature to make it more attractive and resonant with the senses. This creates a more integrated, relaxing, comforting and restorative environment.
In a world that feels increasingly chaotic and lost, it becomes essential to surround ourselves with what we know is most true and meaningful. Nature and the soul/spirit are the most real things I know. Nature has and always will be our real home, and our bodies and souls thrive in her embrace. Bringing nature indoors and designing our homes to reflect what is most sacred to us can turn them into touchstones or daily reminders of what is real, what matters most, and who we are thereby helping us remain sane and grounded in whatever the future may bring.

Full Design package: (for Sonoma county, CA locals only) This package includes a welcome packet, in-person consultation with intention setting ceremony on your land, clearing ritual, and a Soul Style Discovery process that includes a guided meditation audio to view your ideal space a design journal with prompts to deepen your awareness of your values-based preferences, as well as all thoughts, insights, inspirations, ideas, drawings, questions, and concerns that arise during our design journey. Based on information gathered from this process, you will receive a design development plan including a design layout, and up to two style boards with furniture and fabric selections, window treatments, wall art, flooring/rugs, materials/hardware, lighting, styling, a high quality 3D rendering, 2 coaching calls, a two hour local shopping trip, and a celebration and blessing ceremony at completion. Sacred Interiors life design coaching package. In this package we’ll explore where home design, creativity, spirituality, and personal growth meet. With my unique signature coaching tools, we’ll identify the areas of your home that are clear and energy is moving freely and the areas where there may be stagnation or blockages and see what is happening in those corresponding energy centers in your overall life. The home acts as a mirror of the self offering us clues as to what is happening in our relationships, career, family dynamics, health, spiritual life, and more. We’ll customize a plan to work on each area that may be blocked or stagnant in order to get it flowing again. Over a 3 month period we will co-design a life where your relationships, health, abundance, and spiritual purpose will feel back on track and a home that reflects your beautiful transformation. This package includes 4 weekly 1-hour coaching calls, intention setting ceremony, site/home visit (if local), and a collaborative home/life redesign plan with a weekly task planner, clearing, protection, land connection rituals, grounding meditations, and a home design development plan that will emerge over the 3 months and reflect your Soul Discovery journey. $2995
Add-ons (hourly $150 rate applies):
Shopping trips: For 2-3 hours I will accompany you to my and your favorite local shops to find the perfect furniture and decor for your home.
Energetic house clearing, intention setting, and blessing: (1.5-2 hours in person) Using sound, a clearing ritual, prayers and intention setting, we will establish an energetically clean, fresh, and positive imprint in your home. We will also bless the land upon which it sits with the presence of God, all in the natural realm who wish you well. Great to do prior to moving into a new space, after a remodel, or when just needing to eliminate stagnant areas and freshen things up!
Plant identification: (1.5-2 hour in-person) It is said that the plants we need will naturally grow around us. Learn what plants are growing around you and how they are allies there to support you and your family’s well being and how to be in healthy relationship with them.
Land divination: (2-3 hours in-person) Learn what elementals/nature spirits inhabit the land underneath and around your home and how you can come into a harmonious relationship with them through specific rituals.
