Welcome to the Redwood Rose, my gypsy cabin on wheels. I built this enchanted little abode with the help of some wonderful people, and it's been a dream come true to be living in her on beautiful land in the northern California redwoods. All products for sale here are made in the Redwood Rose kitchen. While building my home, her name came to me and and not long after, the Redwood Rose Apothecary was also born. The process of designing and building my home ignited my creative spirit and I have been making art and hand crafted goods in her ever since!

The Rose
The Spirit of the Rose has appeared countless times throughout my life especially in times of hardship. Most notably in 2017 when I experienced 3 consecutive, traumatic events and spent 6 months in deep grief and recovery from PTSD. During that time a solitary yellow rose bloomed outside my house on a bush my landlord said hadn’t bloomed in years and she thought had died. That sparked memories of the numerous times that the rose had appeared throughout my life, often during both challenging and significant times. It also occurred to me during this time that the root of my name is rose (Rosalyn). It dawned on me that this flower being had “claimed” me somehow and had been trying to get my attention.
I began to research the rose and learned that it is an ancient symbol of love and an open heart and has been used as a remedy for grief, depression and anxiety for thousands of years. It was then that the idea came to me to create a line of rose-based, heart healing goods to help others to soothe the anxiety, stress and heaviness of our times.
It is my belief that the energy we put into something can be felt in what we make, and so my making process always begins with a ritual that conjures feelings of gratitude, joy, and an open heart and concludes with a prayer and blessing. I am told this love is felt by those who purchase my products. I am passionate about putting more love out into our grieving world with the help of our beloved plant allies, and of course the amazing Rose.
I love the intoxicating, expansive, full body effect I experience when inhaling a fragrant garden rose. It feels as if I become the rose and every petal of my being opens up to life. Suddenly my mood and experience of life is sweet, fresh and alive again. In my opinion, to inhale a fragrant rose is one of the most pleasurable things in life. The metaphor of the closed bud opening into a big, stunning, velvety bloom resonates as a symbol of our spiritual journey through life—slowly finding the courage and will to bloom into our full potential and our most authentic selves.
The rose has a powerful effect on our emotions and has been used as a medicinal plant for ages. If the heart feels blocked, afraid, or cut off from the world, rose petals can help us find new ways to open up, let go, and trust. Roses and rosehips have traditionally been used to treat a depressed immune system as well as to bring a woman's reproductive/menstrual system back into balance. As an astringent herb, it helps tone, tighten, and support the tissues and is why it is found in many skin care products including my rose, calendula face serum.
A fascinating fact is that roses have powerful energy fields that vibrate at a high electrical frequency -- the highest of any flower on earth. Rose essential oil vibrates at a rate of 320 megahertz of electrical energy. In comparison, essential oil from lavender (one of the next highest frequency flowers) vibrates at a rate of 118 megahertz, and a healthy human brain usually vibrates between 71 and 90 megahertz. No wonder we feel so amazing around them!
The rose’s beauty, softness, and shape evoke feelings of sensuality and eroticism. Since time immemorial, roses have been a symbol of passion, the process of giving and receiving, and the beauty of relationship. Roses have an uplifting and gathering energy that help us feel loved, joyful, and grateful. It is, after all, the quintessential flower of love! For all of these reasons, I chose to honor the spirit of the Rose by creating these handcrafted goods in my tiny home by the same name.

Made with all natural ingredients of cacao butter, mango butter, rose infused jojoba oil, rose essential oil, rose clay powder, and carnauba wax (for hardening- all natural wax derived from the leaves of a Brazilian Palm)
